Description
After fall break DME 3rd graders will learn to play a new instrument, the 6 hole Alto C ocarina, in music class.
3rd graders will not learn the recorder, but will study ocarina instead.
The ocarina plays at the same pitch as the recorder, but Ocarinas are much easier instruments to play with fewer holes and a more immediate range of notes.
With this instrument there is no complex blowing method, no setting up or tuning required, and each note is equally easy to play.
The Ocarina also produces a haunting, beautiful sound.
Students may borrow an ocarina from school to use during class, however, if you wish to purchase an ocarina for your child to keep, you have the option to do so.
In order to receive their ocarina before we start learning in music class, orders should be placed by September 20th.
